Without question, No Dependencies No Logo is one of the finest blogs on WordPress.  No Dependencies No Logo is an astonishingly simple, elegant blog, a blog that demonstrates what you can do with the tools available from WordPress.  Nils, its proprietor, is a very good writer.  He can take a subject as seemingly ordinary as cleaning his keyboard, and raise it to new heights.   You’ll find everything from meditations on good grammar to interesting discussions of good design, to movies and books on this blog.  What unifies the blog is Nils’s unique point of view and his wonderful writing.

Nils is a member of the 9Rules network, and his blog exemplifies the high standards of 9Rules.

Edgecast: Make Your Own Media

Bingo. I clicked on the tag for “Christmas,” curious to see what people are saying about this holiday, hoping for something a little out of the ordinary and there I found Edgecast: Make Your Own Media. It’s run by Conn Ó Muíneacháin, Irish language podcaster, former broadcaster, and a guy whose Christmas post tells you how to find videos of Santa speaking in many of the world’s languages — even in sign language. Like all good sites, this is written by someone who’s clearly in love with his subject and a terrific writer to boot.

The only thing I want for Christmas from Edgecast? More pictures! (I know, that’s very shallow when you’ve got a site that’s so beautifully written, but I like to look at things too. And I like to have something to steal from a site to illustrate my BestBlog post. I briefly thought of looking for a photo or drawing of something or someone recognizably Irish wearing a Santa hat for today’s post, and then decided even I couldn’t descend that far in the face of a site so good. And — probably more plausible — I don’t have time for that sort of thing if I’m going to get a site up every day this month.)

Written by a former marketing professor, the Distillery is well written, regularly updated, funny and fun. It’s also really informative, especially if you’re interested in how to put the multimedia toolbox to work for YOUR company.

And let it never be said that Best Blog does not pay attention to its readers. We found this blog at the suggestion of Market Monkey, who recently pointed out that we don’t feature enough business and investment blogs for his liking. Now, we know marketing and investment are not at all the same thing, but both are aspects of business, and we hope that counts. Plus, we have another blog lined up for later in the week — one that talks about organizational theory and is actually fun to read.

And if that’s not enough — pretty soon we hope to feature a Best Blog on the topic of religion.
